István Íjgyártó, the Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy met the Minister for Higher Education of Sudan on 7th March 2017 at Khartoum. During the meeting they consulted about a closer cooperation between the countries (Hungary and Sudan), and about a scholarship program as well, where Sudanese students could have opportunities to study on different universities in Hungary.
Then István Íjgyártó, the Under-Secretary visited the Khartoum University, where he inaugurated the “Hungarian Information Point”. At this location the Sudanese students and others, who are interested can get knowledge about the country of Hungary and the Hungarian history with the help of English and Arabic language books. They have been figured out an idea about a “Hungarian Room”, which will be open in the future, where would be chance to show more detailed about the Hungarian culture and the role of Hungary in the entire world for those, who are interested in this topic.
On the afternoon of 7th March 2017, Íjgyártó, the Under-Secretary met the Sudanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and then he participated in an official lunch, which was held in his honor.
On the same day in late hours the Minister of State opened the exhibition entitled “The Sudanese Heritage” and this event was hosted by Sudanese-Hungarian Trade Office at Khartoum. Gergely Lantai-Csont photographer‘s pictures were shown in the exhibition, which were made in different places of Sudan.
On 8 March 2017, István Íjgyártó and the Minister of Culture of Sudan had a meeting about an organization plan of an event entitled “Hungarian Cultural Day”. Moreover they have been agreed on preparation of several cooperation between the two countries.
